What drives total cost
Your products, order mix, packaging, inventory turnover and delivery choices shape the bill. Compare providers using the same orders and requirements so bundled fees do not hide important differences.
Accuracy, speed and fewer touches

Receiving
Receiving covers checking in inventory when it arrives at the warehouse: counting it, matching it to what you sent, and putting it away. Some 3PLs charge per hour, per pallet, or per carton.
Storage
Storage is what you pay to keep inventory on the shelf. It is usually billed by pallet, bin, shelf, or cubic foot, each month. Slow-moving stock costs more over time, so good forecasting helps. ShipSquared storage is only for fulfillment clients.
Pick and pack
Pick and pack is the labor to pull items for an order and pack them in a box. It is often a per-order fee, sometimes with an extra charge for each additional item.
Packaging
Boxes, mailers, tape, fill, and inserts. Some 3PLs include basic packaging, others bill it separately. Custom branded packaging is usually priced on its own.
Shipping
Shipping is the carrier label for each package. It depends on weight, size, distance, and speed. Ask whether a 3PL passes labels through at cost or adds a markup.
Returns
Returns processing covers receiving a returned package, inspecting it, and restocking or setting it aside. It is often charged per return.
